A critical aspect of these proposed changes is to have absolute minimal impact to course play. So here are a few of the key goals of how we will implement these proposed changes:
We will not start doing any significant work until June 2025. In this way we can enjoy our course during our 100th year anniversary.
We will try to not have more than 3 holes under construction at any one time. Unlike other course restorations or remodels, we will NOT close the entire course, or even 9 holes, for any duration.
Hole closures will be as short as possible. With the proposed tee and bunker work, total hole closures should be rare and at most a few days. In the case where an entire fairway or green is being worked on, partial hole closures will last longer.
Whenever possible, we will play holes that are under construction as a par 3. So if there is work being done on the fairway or fairway bunkers, we will try and play the hole as a par 3 for as long as possible. If the green is being worked on, we will play to a temporary green.
Green renovations, as proposed for hole #8, will require the longest impact to play as it takes at least a month or two for green sod to grow back in and become playable. To minimize the impact we plan to remove the existing sod, set it on the side, and replace it which should greatly speed recovery. During construction and grow in we will have to play to a temporary green.
